Knob Noster Fire Department
"Being
There" means a lot of different things to different people, but to the
members of the Knob Noster Fire Department it means "Being There" for
the citizens of Knob Noster in an emergency.
The Knob Noster
Fire Department has come a long way since it was organized in
1957. Starting out with little or no equipment, the forefathers
of the department strived to provide protection for the citizens of the
community in the event of any emergency that might occur.
Today,
the Knob Noster Fire Department has a membership of 30 men and
women. These individuals come from all walks of life; there are
military personnel stationed at Whiteman Air Force Base, and personnel
from the community such as farmers, construction workers, clerks,
dispatchers, and factory workers.
Services that the Fire
Department provices to the local community include fire protection,
fire prevention, rescue services, haz-mat, and emergency medical
services.
The Department has a number of personnel that are
certified through the State of Missouri as Emergency Medical
Technicians as well as everyone in the department being certified in
CPR. The Department runs a First-Responder program in conjunction
with the Johnson County Ambulance District.
The Knob Noster Fire
Department covers a community of approximately 4 square miles and a
population of approximately 2461 citizens. The Department
operates 2 pumpers and 1 rescue vehicle.
In 2003, the Fire
Department moved into its new home, a building remodeled to accommodate
the Fire Department located behind the Knob Noster City Hall. |
